The Chase Play Bus

The Brief

With Less than 30 Play Bus’s in the UK, Entrepreneur David Cooper of The Chase Play Bus wanted to create a children’s play bus with a difference.

Summer 2014 owner David contacted Creative Roar, to brand The Chase Play Bus’s new exciting image, that would stand out from their competitors.

The full sized double decker bus boasts vibrant children’s soft play adventure playground inside, complete with ball pool, slide and spooky tree cave. This fantastic Play Bus not only had the looks inside, but needed the brand and vehicle wrap to match.

Although the bus may be aimed at children’s parties, it was the corporates and parents that the Chase Play Bus really needed to impress. Owner David commissioned Creative Roar to come up with a fun, exciting and engaging design that appealed to children and adults alike.

The Goals

• Design an exciting and engaging brand identity and brand style for The Chase Play Bus bus that could be used throughout online and offline marketing material, Uniforms and merchandise as well the vehicle wrap itself.
• Set The Chase Play bus apart from their Play Bus Competitors
• Source a set of animal characters and mascots that work well as a collective and on their own.
• Design and arrange instalment of to scale made to measure full vehicle wrap for the Chase Play Bus.

How Creative ROAR did it

With the brand at the centre of The Chase Play Bus’s marketing plan, Creative Roar focused on getting the branding just right for this unique project. The Brand needed to have an exciting and engaging design, whilst appealing to children, parents and corporate alike.

With the beautiful Cannock Chase at the heart of this fantastic project, it gave the perfect theme throughout the brand. Creative Roar sourced a set of a woodland animals often found within the Chase to create a set of Chase Play Bus friends.

Well known throughout the Cannock Chase and Staffordshire area are the famous stags and dears often found wondering throughout the woodland and surrounding areas, Creative Roar created the main mascot as the Stag to represent the Chase Play Bus, incorporating the use of the road and slide to represent the main function of the bus throughout the logo and branding.

The branding was loved and signed off and it was onto the vehicle wrap. We knew from the start this would be a challenging project and with the double decker bus being over 20 years old Creative Roar were unable to source vehicle templates required to create the designs. With a tape measure and sketch book at hand, we set to work. Making sure the measurements were millimetre perfect, to ensure the smoothest and easiest job possible.

Working with Birmingham based sign writers HNS Signs we wanted to make sure the vehicle wrap not only fitted the bus the best it could, but was also the most cost effective solution for the David and the Chase Play Bus team. With discussions from all parties, we decided against a full vehicle wrap and went for vinyl decals instead, layering the vinyl like large stickers to make sure the wrap fitted perfectly but had room for amend if need be.

The Results

The Chase Play Bus now has a strong brand presence in the local area, its striking graphics have caught the eye of many people and is now used throughout local staffordshire corporate events as well as private children’s birthday parties.

The Chase Play Bus’s brand identity has even made its easy onto clothing and party bags!
